Mall marketing makes use of shopping centers as a platform to promote a product or brand.
The appeal of marketing in malls is that foot traffic is practically guaranteed. As a popular attraction for people of all ages, malls have a consistent consumer base that companies can easily tap.
New Balance did just that when they launched an eight-week tour at malls across America to boost its kids shoe line. By staging a park-like setting outside JC Penney stores in malls - complete with blue skies, green grass, and white picket fences - New Balance was able to boost its outdoor and physical fitness image to a targeted audience. By the time the campaign ended, it reached more than 25,000 attendees. Not only did New Balance sales increase, but JC Penney, which sold the New Balance product line, reported a 228 percent sales increase compared to the year before.
Mall marketing proved to be just as successful for Toyota when they launched the redesigned RAV4. The premise of the mall marketing campaign was to reach out to US Hispanics in two key markets: LA and Miami. Toyota staged a state-of-the-art RAV road trip at three different malls complete with licensing booths, informational plasma screens, foot massage pit stops, interactive activities, and a bi-lingual RAV4 team. As a result of this mall marketing campaign, Toyota generated over 9,900 leads, received over 6,000 new hits to the RAV4 section of their site, and made over 57,500 total brand impressions.
Particularly successful mall marketing campaigns and corporate sponsorships are honored by Event Marketer Magazine's Ex Awards. This prestigious award celebrates the best marketing programs each year in more than 20 event marketing disciplines. All three mall marketing campaigns listed above - New Balance, Toyota RAV4, and Hampton - are recent winners of Ex Awards.
For award-winning, effective mall marketing, companies can choose from a wide variety of marketing companies. Countless elite marketing companies specialize in marketing in malls and creating targeted, high impact mall marketing campaigns. But with so many mall marketing firms, knowing which to use can be difficult.
